Top SchoolAudrey Tang is a globally recognized civic technologist and software engineer with 22 years of experience who served as Taiwan’s first Digital Minister (2016–2024) and now represents Taiwan as Cyber Ambassador. Self-educated from age 14, Audrey blends deep open-source engineering (notably contributions to Haskell, Perl, Parrot VM and webworker threads) with institutional leadership, having built participatory platforms like vTaiwan and Join that modernized civic engagement. Their tenure helped shape Taiwan’s acclaimed COVID-19 response and protected the 2024 elections from foreign cyber interference, demonstrating operational security at national scale. Audrey’s career pairs low-level systems and front-end craftsmanship—examples include UI work on hackfoldr and core thread/runtime redesigns—with high-level policy advising across foundations, academia, and international boards. Grounded in Taoist practice and interdisciplinary self-study, they bring a rare mix of emotional discipline, technical depth, and democratic design.
