👤
SeniorAusten Payan is a founder and senior frontend engineer with 12 years of experience building high-performance web products and developer-friendly frameworks. Based in San Diego, he led search, channels, files, and people surfaces at Slack—architecting a component framework and routing/rendering system adopted org-wide and coordinating cross-team delivery. Previously the first frontend hire at Zingle, he drove a major Angular-to-React migration, introduced testing and build optimizations that cut bundle size by 80%, and raised frontend engineering standards. Now building an AI-native takeoff and estimating platform for MEP trades at Canaveral, he combines practical product sensibility with deep UI performance expertise. Known for mentoring engineers and shipping features used by millions, he pairs entrepreneurial drive with a history of open-source contributions and tooling improvements that subtly boost team velocity.
