Summary
👤
SeniorAustin Pocus is a self-taught freelance software engineer with about 14 years of full-stack web development experience, currently building platforms and infrastructure for clients via Toptal. He brings hands-on expertise across server, database, API, and UX layers, with production experience in TypeScript, React, Node.js, Go, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and PostgreSQL. Comfortable operating Linux systems since childhood, he favors small, fast, secure solutions and has a strong interest in security, encryption, and programming language design. Austin has shipped high-traffic systems—such as a custom headless CMS that served millions of monthly pageviews—and helped scale microservices in observability and candidate-management domains. He mentors junior engineers, participates actively in code review and testing, and moves fluidly between startup and enterprise contexts. Outside work he pursues creative software and music, bringing a curiosity-driven approach to problem solving.
