Top SchoolBaden Ashford is a software engineer with six years of hands-on experience who recently transitioned into medicine, currently studying a joint Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine while working at consultmed. He has built full-stack experience across startups and consultancy roles—from apprenticeship to senior engineering positions at Thimble and Pave—and has run independent projects as a self-employed developer. Based in Newcastle, Australia, Baden combines engineering rigor with clinical curiosity, focusing on health tech solutions that bridge product delivery and patient-centred care. His background in mechanical engineering and finance gives him a practical systems view and commercial sense often missing in pure-software peers. Unusually, his coding career began during pandemic lockdowns when he taught himself to code, a trajectory that highlights adaptability and rapid learning.
