Top SchoolBalamurali Manickavasagam is a Principal Engineer with over 18 years of experience designing and shipping scalable web applications and platform services, currently leading architecture at Affirm. He has a strong track record at PayPal and Venmo building high-impact systems—from webhooks and GraphQL-enabled Browser AutoFill to Tap to Pay and single sign-on integrations—that improved performance, security, and user adoption. Skilled across the full stack, he combines deep expertise in auth, tokenization, encryption (including early EC25519 advocacy), and fault-tolerant batch processing with practical product sensibility. He’s known for reducing launch times and API latencies through re-architecture and automation, and for migrating observability and infra to Terraform to boost operational efficiency. A pragmatic leader and mentor, he consistently raises team productivity, improves on-call reliability, and drives cross-functional stakeholder alignment. Based in Fremont, CA, he also bridges into ML and computer vision domains, reflecting a broad technical curiosity beyond core web-scale systems.
