Top SchoolBarney Walker is a Cambridge-trained engineer and Vice President at Barclays with nine years’ experience blending systems engineering, quantitative rates strategies, and software development. He built production-grade tooling at Leonardo that turned multi-hundred-gigabyte MATLAB workflows from minutes into milliseconds by implementing on-demand loading, caching and automated CI/packaging. At Barclays he has progressed from developer to AVP in Technology and now VP in Rates Strats, supporting intraday FICC risk, pricing and analytics. A physicist-turned-synthetic-biologist-turned-developer, he has a knack for translating scientific workflows into reliable software that scales across teams. Based in London, he pairs deep technical rigor in control and aerothermal principles with practical delivery experience in finance-grade systems. Colleagues describe him as a pragmatic problem-solver who surfaces engineering efficiencies others miss.
