Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolBarrie Mcguire is a Principal Software Engineer with 11 years of professional experience building large-scale, cloud-native systems and distributed streaming platforms across finance, media and government. He has led architecture and implementation of high-traffic identity and streaming services (Disney+, SiriusXM) and designed secure, certified analytics platforms for government use, combining Scala, functional programming (Cats, HTTP4S, Doobie) and AWS/Kubernetes best practices. Comfortable from low-level Delphi/Win32 work to modern microservices, he frequently architects multi-region event pipelines, multi-tenant identity models and production-grade CI/CD and IaC. At SiriusXM and PayPal he influenced CTO-level decisions while still shipping prototypes and core services, showing a blend of strategic leadership and hands-on delivery. Known for pragmatic functional design—custom monad transformer patterns and strong laws/property-based testing—he brings an engineer’s rigor to reliability and observability. Based in the UK, he pairs deep language and tooling fluency with a track record of starting platforms from an empty cloud account to global production.
