Top SchoolBarry Shapira is a Senior Staff Engineer in San Jose with 13 years of experience designing full-stack, distributed systems and machine learning infrastructure. He has led ML infrastructure at Humane—managing provenance for thousands of artifacts and scaling training across hundreds of V100/A100 GPUs—and now applies that expertise to platform work at Lightning AI. His background spans high-scale product engineering at Facebook, building hybrid-cloud inference systems for healthcare, and architecting fault-tolerant docker swarms and real-time stream pipelines. Comfortable from on-device speech models to cloud-native training, he bridges research-grade ML workflows and production-grade deployment tooling. Unusually for an engineer with deep systems chops, he also has formal training in organic chemistry and economics, reflecting a broad analytical mindset that informs pragmatic system design.
