Senior🎓
Top SchoolBas De Bakker is a Tech Lead based in Rotterdam with over eight years in leadership roles and a long career designing high-performance data systems. He builds and architects applications that handle big data by leaning on deep knowledge of hardware, OS, databases, compilers and VMs—a mindset rooted in a PhD in Physics and decades of engineering experience. His work includes major subsystems for native XML databases, early implementations of XQuery, and features like snapshot isolation and full-text search across X-Hive, EMC/OpenText and Mendix. Colleagues rely on him to bridge low-level internals with product-grade cloud platforms, having contributed to cloud-native content management on Cloud Foundry. He combines rigorous academic training and top grades with a pragmatic, systems-first approach that surfaces subtle performance wins most engineers miss.
