Senior🎓
Top SchoolBates Rambow is a Director of Engineering with a decade of hands-on experience building geospatial applications and leading engineering teams, currently steering product and technical strategy at Regrid. He founded CartoLab to turn deep GIS expertise into practical, map-driven web applications using PostGIS, React, and mapping libraries like Mapbox and OpenLayers for clients across real estate, disaster recovery, solar, and home services. His background in municipal stormwater programs and securing federal/state grants gives him uncommon domain knowledge in environmental compliance, infrastructure data models, and operational workflows. Bates combines full-stack development chops with applied spatial science, moving projects from field GPS collection to production APIs and consumer-facing maps. Known for self-directed learning and growing a consultancy into a small team, he balances technical leadership with client-facing problem solving. Based in Bluffton, SC, he quietly bridges public-sector rigor and startup agility to help organizations turn location data into better decisions.
