Senior🎓
Top SchoolBen Freke is an engineering manager with 13 years of experience leading distributed teams to deliver complex healthcare, SaaS, and digital products, currently building engineering capability at Sonic Healthcare. He combines hands-on technical leadership (platform, API integration, Azure/AWS optimisations) with people-first management—coaching engineers, establishing competency frameworks, and improving delivery via Agile and DevOps practices. Ben has repeatedly driven measurable outcomes such as doubling AWS performance, migrating critical platforms with zero disruption, and improving interoperability across RIS/PACS using iPaaS. Comfortable partnering with product and executive stakeholders, he translates strategy into executable plans while managing vendors and compliance in regulated environments. He’s equally at home in tactical delivery trenches and shaping long-term engineering roadmaps, and often surfaces pragmatic process fixes that reduce risk and speed time-to-value.
