Top SchoolBen Schwab is an entrepreneurially minded Android engineer with 11 years of experience building scalable app platforms and developer tooling from prototype to production. He has driven multi-year modernization efforts at Airbnb—leading a 50+ engineer cross-org initiative to modularize the Android codebase, improve build times by up to 75%, and shepherd migrations from REST to GraphQL. A specialist in app architecture, performance optimization, and rapid feature development, Ben is a core contributor to Mavericks and internal Compose-based frameworks and has built IDE integrations and tooling (including Dev Apps and AAR substitution systems) that materially sped developer workflows. His background spans startups and research, from cofounding an offline-first Android app to accelerating image-analysis research and biometric tooling at Microsoft. Based in San Francisco, he blends hands-on Kotlin/RxJava expertise and annotation-processing craft with a product-focused mindset that surfaces pragmatic engineering leverage. Notably, he pairs large-scale coordination skills with low-level build and IDE optimizations that often unlock order-of-magnitude developer productivity gains.
