Top SchoolBen Smith is a Full Professor of Economics and Department Chair at the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a decade of academic experience and a background building commercial web products. He blends rigorous econometric methods with practical data analytics to develop statistically valid measures of learning and improve applied empirical techniques across education, cities, and behavioral topics. As holder of the Harlan and Nancy Noddle Professorship and a former founder of a software company, he pairs scholarly insight with product-minded engineering—having designed CRM and project-management tools that integrated many third-party APIs and led in language analysis and offline mobile UX. Ben’s work emphasizes actionable evidence for policy and practice, and he brings a rare mix of classroom, departmental leadership, and hands-on software development to interdisciplinary problems.
