Top SchoolBen Wirz is a founder and principal electrical engineer with over two decades of hands-on experience designing award-winning consumer and industrial products and leading cross-functional engineering teams. He has a rare blend of deep analog/digital hardware expertise—PCBs, power electronics, motor control, low-power BLE systems—and product leadership, having taken devices from concept through mass production with U.S. and Asian manufacturers. As VP of Engineering at Sphero and founder of Element Products, he drove breakthroughs in IMU performance, real-time 3D scanning for mobile devices, and scalable robotics platforms like the Scribbler and ShotTracker. Notably, he extended a BLE iBeacon’s battery life from six months to over five years and architected advanced fence-security and underwater sonar communication systems, reflecting both creative problem-solving and manufacturability focus. Grounded in electrical engineering and physics, he combines executive-level strategy with firmware, mechanical injection molding, and app development experience to deliver cost-optimized, high-performance products.
