Top SchoolBenjamin Bertrand is a senior developer and engineering leader with 13 years of experience building high-quality, market-driven web applications focused on performance, security, accessibility, and localization. He combines functional-first development, rigorous testing, and 12-factor DevOps to deliver deterministic UIs and resilient microservices, with hands-on experience in Docker, Kubernetes, CircleCI and GitHub Actions. Benjamin has led and grown distributed teams, driven large refactors from monoliths to service-oriented architectures, and operationalized internationalization and accessibility programs to achieve GDPR and ADA/Section 508 compliance. He pairs domain-driven design and standardized processes with a collaborative, Theory Y management style that empowers engineers while keeping product and security stakeholders aligned. Based in Salt Lake City, he also brings an unusual background in art and music theory and was trained informally in Erlang/Elixir by Robert Virding, reflecting a long-standing curiosity about functional languages and the cyclical nature of systems.
