Top SchoolBenjamin Blundell is a Senior Software Engineer with 16 years' experience bridging scientific research and applied engineering, currently developing space vehicle software at Bright Ascension. He holds a PhD in Biostatistics from King's College London where he applied deep learning to reconstruct 3D structures from 2D microscopy, and has since worked across domains from marine sonar AI at the Sea Mammal Research Unit to antibody modelling and ChimeraX plugin design. Comfortable across C/C++, Python, CUDA, OpenGL/WebGL and HPC stacks (MPI, OpenMP, Intel tools), he combines low-level performance engineering with computer vision and graphics expertise. Benjamin has a strong track record collaborating with academia and cultural institutions—clients include Cambridge, the British Museum and Manchester University—and also ships creative freelance projects spanning electronics, VR and HCI. Notably, his background blends hands-on hardware hacking with high-performance scientific software, making him adept at turning research problems into robust, production-ready systems.
