Senior🎓
Top SchoolBernd Schuller is a physicist-turned-software leader with a Ph.D. from RWTH Aachen and over 17 years designing and implementing distributed and federated computing solutions at Forschungszentrum Jülich. As Group Lead and long-time UNICORE core developer, he blends hands-on Java and Python engineering with software architecture for scalable web services, workflow systems, and scientific data management. His work spans high-performance computing projects like the Human Brain Project and EMI, where he translated research requirements into production-grade middleware and secure, federated infrastructures. Comfortable managing small-to-medium projects, he pairs deep technical know-how with a researcher’s rigor and a practical eye for user-centric scientific workflows. Outside work he channels analytical creativity into music, chess, and climbing—traits that show up in his methodical yet exploratory approach to system design.
