Bernhard Denner is a Chief Architect with 13 years of experience designing robust, scalable and secure on-premises cloud-native solutions for mission-critical railway systems. He began his career in IT system administration while studying computer science at TU Wien, later merging operations and software engineering into infrastructure automation before "DevOps" was mainstream. Since 2017 he helped build a group-wide cloud-native application platform that underpins many railway management products and now serves as its chief architect. He also led the creation of an internal developer platform based on OpenStack and Ceph that grew to over 60 servers and powers engineering projects beyond Hitachi Rail Austria. Bernhard combines deep hands-on implementation experience with strategic architecture leadership, advocating open-source-driven infrastructure for regulated, safety-critical environments. Colleagues know him for translating operational realities into production-grade platforms that scale across organizations.
