Summary
👤
Senior🎓
Top SchoolBert Koorengevel is a seasoned Java software engineer based in the Randstad with three decades of hands-on experience across legacy mainframes to modern cloud platforms. He has worked across finance and public sector systems, rehosting COBOL workloads, building Java/J2EE services, and most recently contributing to a distributed monolith with REST, GraphQL and Kafka on OpenShift for Politie Nederland. Comfortable with databases from IMS and DB2 to Oracle and data warehousing, he pairs deep legacy knowledge (Pascal, COBOL, PL/1, GraphTalk) with current CI/CD and cloud-native practices. Known for pragmatism and staying with systems through acquisitions and long lifecycles, he brings institutional memory that helps bridge old and new architectures. Though not actively pursuing roles, he remains engaged in substantive engineering work and values offers that recognize senior-level market norms. His career pattern shows a rare combination of mainframe mastery and modern Java ecosystem fluency, making him a reliable problem-solver for complex migrations and integrations.
