Senior🎓
Top SchoolBilly Ceskavich is a founding software engineer with 12 years of experience building resilient backend systems for web and native apps, currently leading engineering at Knock. He combines deep hands-on expertise in Elixir, Ruby, JavaScript, and SQL with senior experience shaping team practices, on-call playbooks, and high-traffic readiness (including 4x peak load planning at Shopify). Billy has repeatedly taken ownership of underinvested services—rewriting membership and permissions systems, scaling a pub/sub pipeline to handle thousands of events per second, and executing zero-downtime platform migrations. Comfortable across the stack, he pairs pragmatic tooling choices (Redis, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Datadog) with open-source contributions like an Elixir OpenAPI generator used in production. Based in New York, he brings a track record of mentoring engineers and turning complex reliability problems into instrumented, maintainable systems.
