Senior🎓
Top SchoolBilly Laing is an architect and hands-on engineer with 11 years of professional experience and a decades-long coding habit dating back to 2000. He blends strategic simplicity with pragmatic experimentation, delivering cloud and system architectures that scale across Fortune 500s and startups alike. Billy has led mission-critical election and media systems at CNN, guided engineering teams through SOC2 and zero-downtime cloud migrations, and currently consults on cloud, data engineering, and DevOps for civic and education clients. A polyglot coder (JavaScript, Go, Python, Scala, Ruby, Java, C++) who still ships production code, he pairs deep technical craft with a knack for spotting cross-cutting concerns and proposing right-fit solutions. Known for instrumenting systems to surface cost and performance insights, he turns operational data into actionable product improvements. Based in Atlanta, he combines studio-to-infrastructure experience with a background in DSP and event-driven projects, making him equally comfortable with low-level optimization and high-level architecture.
