Top SchoolBilly Rhoades is a systems-focused software engineer with 12 years of experience building resilient, large-scale infrastructure and client software. He has led cross-platform client engineering and platform reorganizations at scale, improving fleet uptime from ~90% to 99% on macOS and dramatically reducing incidents and costs. Billy blends deep systems debugging (Postgres, WAL, replication quirks) with modern cloud-native practices—Rust and Go services on Kubernetes, CI-driven per-PR environments, and orchestrators that replaced brittle sqlite-based designs. As an early ngrok engineer and later staff lead at Rippling, he moved teams from ad hoc operations to disciplined SDLC, on-call and postmortem culture while shipping major global failover and agent-orchestration projects. He’s comfortable toggling between hands-on low-level fixes and organization-level process changes, and once ran a production Redis module prototype in Rust that survived years in production. Based in Seattle, he maintains a portfolio of systems work at brod.es that highlights pragmatic, durable solutions to thorny reliability problems.
