Top SchoolBilly Rooke is a software engineer based in Edinburgh with eight years of experience and a recent BSc (Hons) in Computer Science from the University of St Andrews. Currently working on embedded software at Dukosi, he specialises in low-level systems, networking and IoT, and his dissertation extended a probe-tool to evaluate deployability of an experimental internet protocol. He has practical cloud and data-pipeline experience from an Amazon internship where he wrote Scala to drive Spark on AWS EMR and amended OpenSearch schemas for production data. Beyond engineering, Billy has held several leadership roles in student organisations—from senior student and treasurer to managing a 400‑member computing society and a university symphony orchestra—demonstrating strong cross-functional coordination. He’s seeking opportunities that combine embedded systems, computer networks or anything technically adventurous where systems-level thinking and hands-on implementation meet.
