Top SchoolBilly Yau is a software engineering manager with a decade of experience leading full-stack teams and shipping customer-focused web products, currently heading engineering at Clover Hospitality (formerly BentoBox). He brings a rare blend of deep technical rigor and product empathy rooted in an earlier eight-year career in materials science and R&D, where he developed nanoparticle sensors and worked on battery materials. Comfortable across front-end and back-end stacks, Billy moved from immersive web development training into progressive engineering and management roles at Wayfair and TokenTax, delivering rapid turnarounds on complex projects. He excels at quickly learning new technologies and translating technical trade-offs into practical solutions that meet user and business needs. His problem-solving origin story—solving brain teasers in bookstores—continues to drive a methodical, curiosity-led approach to engineering leadership. Based in New York City, he pairs scientific discipline with pragmatic software delivery to drive measurable impact.
