Top SchoolBjarni Kristjansson is a veteran software entrepreneur and managing director with nearly two decades leading Maximal Software entities in Iceland, the UK, and the US and building industry-grade optimization tools. He is the principal developer of the MPL Modeling System, the OptiMax 2000 Component Library, and the open-source CoinMP optimization library, combining deep C/C++ and multi-language development with practical optimization consulting. As Vice President of IT for INFORMS and a former EURO practice lead and conference organizer, he bridges academic research, professional societies, and commercial software delivery. Based in Reykjavik, he pairs hands-on engineering with strategic product leadership, often tackling the hardest parts of model formulation and solver integration himself. An unusual strength is his long-running commitment to both proprietary and open-source optimization ecosystems, enabling customers to move from prototype models to production-ready deployments.
