Björn Giesler is a professor and seasoned autonomous systems leader with deep technical roots in robotics since 1997 and dedicated work on autonomous vehicles since 2012. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Universität Karlsruhe and has led software and ADAS/ADS organizations across industry—most recently as VP of Software Engineering at Luminar and earlier as head of L4 functions and ADAS teams at ZF, Samsung, Elektrobit and Audi. Known for translating cutting-edge research into production-grade vehicle autonomy, he combines academic rigor with hands-on product delivery across sensor fusion, perception and system-level safety. Based in Ingolstadt, he brings both startup-scale product velocity and automotive-grade engineering discipline, and now shapes the next generation of engineers as a professor.
