Senior🎓
Top SchoolBrandon Birkholz is a Senior Software Engineer based in Austin with 12 years of experience building scalable backend systems and product-facing APIs across startups and large teams. He has shipped Ruby on Rails microservices, led cross-functional initiatives at Instacart to centralize high-throughput SMS infrastructure, and used wearable data pipelines at Evidation to deliver health guidance via robust REST APIs. Comfortable across the full stack, he’s driven architecture work—from API gateways and single-sign-on at ZeroCater to performance-focused migrations from Ruby to Go and gRPC adoption. Known for improving observability and reliability, he pairs pragmatic testing and monitoring discipline with product-minded engineering. Outside of the obvious, he’s repeatedly stepped into high-stakes operational roles (major PR incidents, “Code Yellow” outage hunts) to turn noisy production problems into durable solutions.
