Senior🎓
Top SchoolBrendan Downing is a seasoned engineering leader with 11 years of experience building and scaling product teams across Boston-area tech companies. Currently Director of Engineering at Zillow after progressive leadership roles at LogRocket and Blue State Digital, he specializes in turning ambiguous product goals into reliably shipping teams and systems. He combines a hands-on engineering background with quantitative experience from earlier analytics and research roles, enabling strong cross-functional collaboration between product, data, and platform teams. Known for "shipping teams that ship," he focuses on delivery rhythms, developer experience, and pragmatic architecture rather than ivory-tower design. Brendan’s broad curiosity—summed up as “approximate knowledge of many things”—helps him connect domain experts and engineers to solve real customer problems. He holds an AB in History from Harvard, an unconventional background that informs his strategic, narrative-driven approach to technical leadership.
