Top SchoolBrendan Peters is a Senior Software Engineer based in the New York City area with nine years of experience building backend web systems and APIs. After starting his career as an electrical engineer and earning an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia, he transitioned to software where he has driven payments, subscription, and fraud-detection work at Vimeo and now contributes to product engineering at Descript. He has a strong foundation in computer science and applied mathematics, which he applies to refactors, automation of payouts, and remediation of complex production incidents (including recovering the majority of $1.2M in a past outage). Brendan combines deep systems thinking from his power-systems background with practical backend delivery, often owning end-to-end solutions that touch tax compliance, moderator tooling, and large-scale data workflows. Notably, he pairs rigorous technical documentation habits from his engineering roots with a track record of shipping durable, auditable financial systems.
