Top SchoolBrent Swisher is a Senior Software Engineer with 11+ years delivering web platforms for higher education, now improving JSTOR at ITHAKA by building Node.js services, TypeScript packages, and React/Vue microfrontend templates that accelerate team delivery. He blends pragmatic engineering with design-system stewardship—contributing to Pharos and open-source work like enhancements to WordPress’s widely used Gutenberg editor—bringing accessibility and frontend polish to complex products. Previously he ran a solo web consultancy and led campus-wide web systems at Grand Valley State University, where he built a custom CMS powering hundreds of sites. Based in Dowagiac, Michigan, Brent pairs hands-on coding with a maker’s curiosity—brewing beer and gardening when he’s not wrestling with TypeScript.
