Top SchoolBrian Sturgess is an experienced economist and advisor with over 10 years in roles spanning investment banking, fund management, consulting and publishing, now focusing on renewable energy economics and battery storage policy at Envirotech. He combines academic rigour—teaching international and macroeconomics at the University of Buckingham and previously at multiple UK business schools—with hands-on consultancy for institutions including Dubai Economy and the Islamic Development Bank. As Managing Editor of World Economics and founder of niche consultancies in sports economics and soccer investment, he blends data-driven analysis with sector-specific insight into sport, media and privatization. Brian’s career traces back to media equity analysis in the City and a long-standing interest in the business of sport, giving him a rare mix of market-facing finance experience and public-sector economic expertise. He is active in global advisory roles for family office education in Asia and has a deep Oxford and Newcastle academic background. Not immediately obvious is his track record of translating academic datasets into practical policy and investment tools through publishing and database work.
