Brodie Pearson is an assistant professor and physical oceanographer with seven years of research experience applying theory, observations, and numerical models to understand ocean turbulence from metres to hundreds of kilometres. He develops and implements parameterizations of turbulent mixing for Earth System Models, improving how heat and energy exchanges between the atmosphere and deep ocean are represented. Based in Providence, RI, he holds an MPhys from Oxford and a PhD in Atmospheric, Oceanic & Climate Science from Reading, and splits his time between faculty duties at Oregon State and research roles at Brown. Known for bridging first-principles theory with practical model development, he brings a rare combination of mathematical insight and computational implementation skills to problems of global-scale climate prediction.
