Top SchoolByron Matto is an Engineering Lead with 12 years of experience driving full-stack web engineering and team delivery at HubSpot, where he progressed from Senior Software Engineer to Tech Lead and now leads engineering efforts. He blends hands-on development (React, Redux, GraphQL, Ruby/Rails, Elixir/Phoenix) with people leadership and product-focused architecture, having also led front-end teams and UX initiatives earlier in his career. Byron approaches problems with a growth mindset and synthesis-driven collaboration—treating engineering challenges as opportunities to make things faster, more reliable, and more delightful. He’s comfortable balancing strategic technical direction with shipping pragmatic solutions and mentoring engineers through complex projects. Based in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, he brings East Coast roots and West Coast sensibilities, and outside work he’s equally likely to be tinkering on a creative build or listening to rock n’ roll. A thoughtful contrarian, he enjoys provoking ideas into stronger designs through debate and iterative refinement.
