Top SchoolCal Richards is a London-based full-stack software engineer with five years of experience building performant, user-focused SaaS products, currently contributing at OneUp Sales. He played a key role at Smartzer developing a shoppable video and livestream platform, optimising React/Next.js bundles, migrating codebases to TypeScript, and improving API patterns with React Query and TRPC. Comfortable across frontend, backend and cloud, he has hands-on GCP experience (BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Firebase), Dockerised deployments, and infrastructure as code exposure via Terraform. Cal’s background in fast-paced production and advertising brings a pragmatic, deadline-driven mindset and strong cross-team communication—he’s led client-facing technical discussions and introduced weekly optimisation practices to reduce tech debt. Notably, he transitioned a multi-repo setup into a TurboRepo monorepo and debugged nuanced cross-browser HLS playback issues, reflecting both product focus and engineering depth.
