Top SchoolCarmen Jackson is a software engineer with 15 years of experience focused on Android performance and user-centered design, currently driving performance work on Android at Google in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has a strong HCI foundation from Carnegie Mellon and a track record of shipping mobile products—from building the Scribd Reader as the sole full-time Android developer on the team to leading Android efforts and tech leadership at Yelp. Her background includes low-level systems and UI work at VMware, where she led Linux Player development and designed cross-process IPC and UX telemetry systems, showing comfort across C++ systems and high-level mobile platforms. Carmen pairs performance optimization with practical UX sensibilities, and her long-term involvement in roller derby leadership and officiating hints at disciplined teamwork, operational leadership, and a knack for coaching under pressure.
