Cass Caplinger is a web-focused software engineer with nine years of experience specializing in front-end development and test automation. They have shipped usability improvements and accessibility fixes across notable open-source projects like OpenDota and Refined GitHub, and stabilized end-to-end tests for Mattermost’s web app and Playbooks plugin. Comfortable working across UI polish and QA, Cass has a track record of replacing jarring loading states with skeleton loaders and tightening flaky tests to improve user experience and engineering confidence. Their background includes production-facing QA roles at Mattermost and BoomTown and early developer support at Codecademy, giving them a user-centric perspective on tooling and documentation. Based in Pennsylvania and trained in computer science at West Virginia University, Cass combines pragmatic front-end craftsmanship with a strong ethic for the social impact of technology. An often-overlooked strength is their iterative approach: small UI and test changes that compound into noticeably smoother product interactions.
