Cassandra Van Praag is an executive leader and community strategist with seven years’ experience building open research ecosystems at the intersection of data science, AI and environmental sustainability. As Executive Director and Co-Founder of RCM Cooperative and founder of the Open Research Calendar, she has scaled community-driven infrastructure that now catalogs thousands of events and sustains an active subscriber base. At the Alan Turing Institute and University of Oxford she translated open-science principles into operational practice—designing stakeholder maps, community strategies, reproducible workflows and tooling for climate and brain-imaging research. She combines academic rigour from a PhD in cognitive neuroscience with hands-on product delivery, including reusable Python analysis pipelines and cross-platform research software. Notably, she focuses on practical governance and inclusive documentation to make complex research communities more discoverable and sustainably engaged.
