Top SchoolCassia Scheffer is a Staff Software Developer with 11 years’ experience building secure, high-performance backend systems and developer tooling, currently leading Edge APIs at Wealthsimple in Canada. She pairs hands-on engineering—reducing GQL gateway CPU by 80% while doubling RPS—with strategic leadership, having authored the 2025 engineering strategy and a 12-month roadmap for internal tools. Cassia specializes in GraphQL gateway frameworks, API security against injection attacks at the edge, and operationalizing AI workflows and developer tools across organizations. She has a strong platform engineering background from building teams and production health practices at Lillio and HomeStars, and she mentors engineers on security and performance best practices. Unusually for an engineer at her level, she also created an internal AI podcast to accelerate team adoption of AI-driven development. Her interdisciplinary education in rhetoric, communication design, and graphic/fine arts informs a pragmatic focus on developer experience and clear technical communication.
