Top SchoolCharles Peng is a Machine Learning Platform Engineer based in Shanghai with eight years of experience building scalable ML and data pipeline infrastructure. Currently at Optiver, he focuses on designing ML libraries to support large-scale training pipelines, following work at PayPal where he implemented data/ML pipeline infrastructure and agentic LLM applications. He combines hands-on engineering with research-oriented training from an MS in Computer Science at The University of Hong Kong and practical industry exposure from ByteDance and PayPal internships. Comfortable across production ML systems and tooling, he brings a pragmatic approach to operationalizing models and accelerating developer workflows. Notably, his trajectory reflects a shift from applied ML engineering into platform-level solutions that enable robust, large-scale training and inference.
