Top SchoolCharlie Saunders is a Senior Research Scientist based in Boston with a PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and three years of focused experience in computational imaging, signal/image processing, and optimization for inverse problems. He has moved between academia and industry—doctoral research at Boston University, a research internship on 3D cameras and sensors at Facebook, a postdoc at Meta, and now research work at MathWorks—bringing practical product-minded rigor to foundational research. Charlie specializes in turning mathematical models for imaging inverse problems into robust algorithms that can be embedded in software tools. He combines deep theoretical training with hands-on sensor and camera system experience, making him adept at bridging algorithm design and real-world measurement constraints. Colleagues describe him as someone who favors principled solutions that scale from prototypes to production-facing libraries.
