Top SchoolCharlie Whitney is a Brooklyn-based Director of Innovation and software engineer with over a decade of professional experience crafting interactive installations and graphics-driven experiences. He blends a background in art and design (BA, Skidmore College) with hands-on engineering, shipping work from gallery-scale physical installations to creative commercial projects as a freelancer and lead technologist at agencies like Buck. As a former adjunct professor teaching algorithmic animation, he uniquely bridges pedagogy and practice, teaching C++/openFrameworks techniques while producing real-world interactive systems. Charlie has co-founded creative studios, led R&D teams, and continues to focus on emerging interactivity—favoring graphics, sensor-driven installations, and spatial experiences over conventional product engineering. Based in New York, he’s known for turning experimental concepts into robust, deployable works that sit at the intersection of art, code, and physical space.
