Senior🎓
Top SchoolChonghuai Ma is a senior photonics engineer with eight years of experience bridging silicon photonics, optical design, and machine learning for high-speed AI hardware. Currently at Xanadu and a long-time researcher in Ghent University’s Photonics Research Group (imec), he specializes in silicon photonics systems, reservoir computing, and end-to-end SOI chip design, testing and simulation. His background blends rigorous academic training (M.Sc. in Photonics) with hands-on optics engineering—Zemax and MATLAB tool development for novel freeform and anamorphic systems—informing practical device fabrication and high-speed measurements. He brings a rare mix of experimental optics, algorithmic image processing/computer vision, and ML-hardware co-design, with a track record of translating component-level innovations into functioning photonic AI prototypes.
