Choon Chew
Principal Software Engineer at GovTech Singapore
Singapore
Summary
👤
SeniorChoon Chew is a Principal Software Engineer based in Singapore with 18 years of hands-on experience spanning startups and an enterprise J2EE environment. He blends server-side Linux administration and back-end integrations (SMSC, MMSC, XMPP/Jabber) with rich client work including Eclipse plugins, JavaScript, and ActionScript. Recently he has focused on Ruby on Rails alongside extensive JavaScript and CSS, delivering web applications and integrations that bridge telecom and web platforms. His career reflects a practical polyglot curiosity—comfortable shipping device and TV software as well as server systems. Now at GovTech Singapore, he applies that breadth to public-sector engineering challenges, pairing pragmatic craftsmanship with systems-level thinking. A lesser-known strength is his history of working directly with telecom messaging stacks, giving him rare domain expertise for messaging-heavy projects.
