Top SchoolChris Herdt is a seasoned security operations manager with nearly three decades in IT and 20 years supporting large research universities, currently leading security operations at the University of Minnesota after serving as interim CISO. He blends hands-on skills—from Linux systems administration, incident detection with Zeek/Suricata, and Splunk monitoring to web application development and automation—with leadership in curriculum design and teaching for Dunwoody College and Udacity. Known as a tinkerer and occasional "digital prankster," Chris pairs curiosity-driven experimentation with pragmatic security controls and incident response. His background spanning call center management to senior engineering roles gives him a rare combination of user-focused communication and deep technical troubleshooting.
