Christian Cole is a Reader in Health Informatics and Research Theme Lead for Population & Digital Health at the University of Dundee, with 11 years of focused experience translating complex health data into clinically relevant insights. He leads the Health Informatics Centre and directs the HDR UK Alleviate APDP Data Hub, building federated infrastructure and OMOP-mapped datasets to break pain-data silos across the UK. His work bridges Trusted Research Environments, machine learning and real-world datasets to improve diversity-aware clinical models and enable decentralised trials and precision public health. Previously he led data science groups in forensic science and bioinformatics, combining high-performance computing, R/Python tooling and strong domain knowledge in chemistry and biology. A pragmatic researcher-practitioner, he routinely moves methods into usable analysis platforms (R Shiny, SQL pipelines) while maintaining academic rigour. Outside the lab he is an occasional artist, reflecting a creative bent that informs his data visualisations and approach to problem solving.
