Top SchoolChristian Nelson is a veteran engineering leader and founder with 17+ years of hands-on and executive experience building product engineering teams, practices, and culture across consultancies and client engagements. He co-led and scaled Carbon Five from a small studio to a nearly 100-person brand, later serving as Director of Product Engineering at West Monroe and now growing Starling Labs to help organizations choose technology strategy and deliver better products. Christian combines pragmatic, values-driven leadership with deep technical fluency in web application architecture, agile coaching, hiring, and development streamlining, and he frequently works fractional or hands-on to rescue or accelerate delivery. He places unusual emphasis on culture as the multiplier for technical success, and leverages AI tools across ideation, development, and delivery to amplify team impact. Based in California with a CS degree from Virginia Tech, he’s known for translating messy real-world problems into clear, practical plans that sustain both product outcomes and people.
