Top SchoolChuck Batson is a seasoned software engineer and engineering leader with nearly 30 years of experience building mission-critical, resource-efficient systems from low-level firmware to large-scale backend services. As President/CTO of Weathermuffin and a former principal engineer at Zynga and Spire, he combines hands-on coding with architecture and systems optimization, having led zero-downtime migrations, satellite constellation software, and game-engine innovations. He’s an inventor with two patent applications, author of an open-source crypto library, and has shipped 27 commercial game titles across 40 SKUs as well as consumer apps on iOS and Android. Comfortable across C/C++, Python, Ruby/Rails, and cloud-native tooling (Docker, Terraform, AWS), he specializes in diagnosising root causes and creating robust frameworks and APIs for other developers. Outside of software he’s an experienced single-handed sailor who completed a solo Pacific crossing, an EDM producer, and fluent in Thai—traits that reflect a blend of technical rigor, creativity, and adventurous problem-solving.
