Top SchoolCoby Powers is an equity analyst and portfolio manager at Fidelity Investments with seven years of finance and technology-focused investing experience, currently managing the Fidelity Select FinTech Portfolio and covering fintech, brokerages, software, and crypto. He began his career in M&A and private equity at firms including J.P. Morgan and Francisco Partners, then moved into semiconductor supply chain research before focusing on fintech and crypto—combining deep sector knowledge with transaction-level deal experience. Trained as an electrical engineer (USC) and an MBA candidate at Wharton’s Health Care Management program, he blends technical literacy with rigorous financial analysis. Self-taught in software development (C#, C/C++, Python, Lua and web languages), he brings hands-on coding fluency that helps him evaluate technology risk and product roadmaps beyond typical sell-side coverage. Located in Boston, he applies a practitioner’s view to investing, preferring companies where engineering edge and business model durability intersect.
