Summary
🤩
RockstarCoolStar is a seasoned software engineer with 13 years of experience building low-level and cross-platform systems, based in San Francisco. They specialize in iOS, Windows, and Linux development including kernel drivers, with notable contributions to coreboot and the Linux kernel. Their open-source work includes maintaining jailbreak tooling for iOS (Electra) and enhancing theos to build on Windows and support clang, reflecting deep expertise in build systems and platform compatibility. They’ve developed macOS drivers for Intel I2C controllers and touch devices, demonstrating hands-on proficiency in hardware interfacing, interrupt handling, and power management. Equally comfortable in userland and kernel contexts, they bridge system architecture and practical tooling to solve platform-specific challenges. A less obvious strength is their knack for porting and adapting code across OS boundaries, turning niche low-level problems into robust cross-platform solutions.

Intel I2C controller and slave device drivers for macOS
Role in this project:Back-end Developer
Back-end DeveloperContributions:111 commits, 17 PRs, 45 pushes in 3 years 6 months
Contributions summary:CoolStar's primary contribution involves developing drivers for Intel I2C controllers and slave devices for macOS. They focused on implementing and refining drivers for trackpads, specifically the Cypress Gen3 and Elan models, and also added support for Atmel touch screen devices. The code changes include modifications to device initialization, interrupt handling, and the creation of a custom HID wrapper. The user appears to be porting code from other platforms, and making changes to existing drivers to improve functionality, including power management and support for the settings pane.
