Top SchoolCostin Lupu is a software engineer with over a decade of experience focused on virtualization, cloud infrastructure and security, currently contributing to EC2 Nitro’s Confidential Computing and Security features at AWS. He combines academic research—where he reduced VM instantiation times and contributed core components to the Unikraft unikernel project—with hands-on engineering across hypervisor and userspace VMM layers. His work spans AMD SEV-SNP, Nitro Enclaves and NitroTPM, reflecting a rare blend of low-level systems expertise and practical cloud-scale deployment. Prior roles include safety-critical real-time systems at Thales and IPv6 edge solutions, giving him strong systems-thinking across domains. Based in Rotterdam, he mentors students and engineers alike, translating research insights into measurable performance and security improvements. A pragmatic problem-solver, he often focuses on bridging performance gains with deployable security features rather than purely theoretical optimizations.
